Senior Mechanic - Mauritania, West Africa - Competitive Remuneration Package

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mechanic to join our Drilling team based in Mauritania, West Africa.   Reporting to the Site Manager your main responsibility will be to effectively and efficiently maintain and repair drilling rigs, mobile plant, equipment and other associated machinery to minimise “downtime” and the consequent disruption of operations.

The key task of this role include:

• Maintenance and repair of drilling rigs, large compressors and all other plant and equipment
• Supervising mechanics and trainees
• Training and junior employees
• Producing risk assessments for all working tasks
• Undertaking toolbox talks on site
• Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of relevant employees

Candidates for this role should meet the following criteria:

• Relevant trade qualification
• Must be able to work unsupervised
• Minimum of 8 years relevant experience within the trade
• Current experience on drilling rigs (UDR, Diamec, Mustang, ROC & EDS), hydraulics, basic auto electrical and maintenance of large compressors
• Ability to train and mentor junior members of the team
• Must be able to drive a truck and operate a truck mounted crane
• Must be fluent in the English language written and spoken
• The ability to speak French would be very advantageous
• Will be required to demonstrate the relevant qualifications, skills and experience through certification and practical onsite testing
